Death at a Funeral was O.K.

Ok this past Monday I watched the movie “Death at a Funeral.” In my head I already told myself that I was not going to like this movie but luckily I was somewhat wrong. In my opinion there was not much to this movie. The plot was very simple with a few funny parts. What made the movie for me was one character named Oscar (played by James Marsden). In the beginning Oscar and his girlfriend almost get hit by a car which causes him to start freaking out. So to calm him down his girlfriend gives him one of her brother’s pills (which is something you should never do) that is wrongly labeled. The pills cause Oscar to start to hallucinate during the whole movie. His hallucinations ranged from just acting and saying weird things to seeing dead bodies move to even climb up on the roof naked. This character made the movie for me with his extreme craziness. Overall the movie was alright. I see it one of those movies that if you see it fine if you don’t that’s fine to.
*I give this movie a 5 out of 10 and James Marsden’s Character a 8.5 out of 10*

I have included a clip were Oscar thinks the coffin is moving and someone is alive inside it.

  1. I remember reading a review of this movie on Yahoo! news, and the article pretty much said the same thing: this movie is not that great. It's a remake of the British film, which is overly sarcastic and a bit boring - as stated by the article. It's too bad they didn't have James Marsden in the original, since he probably would have made it funnier. I just watched the clip and I couldn't help but crack up (my mom thought I was losing my mind), and I'm starting to wonder if I should give this movie a chance - just for fun. Judging from this preview, I'd give him a 8.5/10, too! By the way, I like the fact that you pointed out the movie's message regarding the dangers of taking someone else's [wrongly labeled] pills. Definately, not a good idea!

Short and to the point - nice review.

  2. I agree with your review and thought that it was an ok movie. It did have its funny moments but I felt that the role Chris Rock was playing did not suit him very well. I did like the guy in the wheelchair and always thought he said the randomest things that somehow always made me smile. "Oscar" was a pretty funny character and at the end was also a pretty funny moment when the same guy in the wheelchair took the same pills. I think "Oscar" is starring in his own movie about a rabbit, but he is a pretty funny actor. Good review.
