This week since I have seen both “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2,” I will be talking about them both in this post. “Iron Man” was a good movie. Since I am a big fan of superhero movies myself I tend to have high expectations for them. One of my favorite scenes in the movie was when he fought and escaped the terrorist who kidnapped him in the prototype Iron Man armor. Even though I did like the movie I felt as if it could have been better. When I think of superheroes I think of action and “Iron Man” had action just not as much as I expected. The main action scenes in the movie were when he fought in the prototype armor and at the end when fighting Obadaih Stane (played by Jeff Bridges).
I would say “Iron Man2” meet my expectation more. Even though again it really only has two main fight scenes like the first movie it somehow was more entertaining. The two main fight scenes in this movie was the fight against Ivan Vanko/Whiplash and at the end when Iron man and Rhodey/War Machine fight the Iron Man Robots as well as Vanko. Overall I felt both movies were good but I personally like “Iron Man 2” better.
*I give “Iron Man” a 7 out of 10*
*I give “Iron Man 2” a 8.5 out of 10*
Both Iron Man movies are extremely entertaining and I think Robert Downey Jr. does an amazing job playing Tony Stark. I agree with the fact that the first Iron Man doesn't have as much action as the second, but I think it makes up for that with its rising action, up until the point where Tony realizes the truth about Obadiah Stane. Personally, I feel that the 1st is slightly better than the second, though both have their charm and redeeming qualities. Iron Man 2 does an especially awesome job with suit upgrades, flashy fight scenes, and Stark Expo advertising (If that expo were real, I'd definately go!). Mickey Rourke is great as the movie's tech-savvy Russian villain (the accent is a plus). Overall, both Iron Man films are spectacular additions to the lineup of epic superhero movies!
I agree with you that both Iron Man movies are amazing, but I disagree with you on which one is better. As much as I like the action I feel like the storyline is where all the meaning is found. The action adds to the emotion tied to the characters as each character grows with the story. If there is less of a story, then we get less attached to the characters and less involved in the action. That being said, I would give Iron Man 1 the higher score because there is more character growth, and even though the battle scenes are not as flashy, I believe I was more "involved" in those battles than I was in the second movie. In the end both movies were amazing so I don't think it really matters lol :P.
